Striving for Excellence Program
At Yale-New Haven Hospital, our vision is the delivery of patient care excellence in a safe, collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The key principle of nursing practice is the continuity of care, with the patient and the family as the central focus. Accountability to the patient creates an environment for decision-making as a partnership between the patient and the members of the health care team, and fosters the nurse-patient relationship. Our multidisciplinary approach to patient care thrives on collaborative decision-making, professional recognition and mutual respect.Striving for Excellence is an initiative to improve patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction, productivity/efficiency, practice, patient safety and quality outcomes. This program, which has been implemented through eleven clusters representing nurses from every patient care setting at Yale-New Haven Hospital, reflects our commitment to fostering positive working relationships, reinforces the value of diversity, and establishes a higher standard of nursing performance and expectation.
